The United Nations has declared 2011 the International Year of Forests. This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate people’s action to sustainably manage the world’s forests.
Perth Zoo Global Forest Project
This project aims to give the global community an opportunity to show why their local trees are important to them and we want you to be a part of it.
Email a photo of you, your school or family with a tree that is native to your area. Please include one or two sentences telling us why the tree is important to you, either environmentally, socially or economically. These photos will be uploaded to a photo album on Perth Zoo’s Facebook Page. Please email photos to globalforests@perthzoo.wa.gov.au.
Our target is 500 photos for 2011 and some wonderful stories telling everyone why people from around the world think forests are important to them.
Wild Ways
Western Australian schools can enter a banner in the Wild Ways Banner Conservation Art Project and show how forests are important in their lives and to the environment.
