Perth Zoo is one of the most popular picnic locations in Perth. The beautiful gardens, shaded picnic areas and of course our wonderful animals all provide a venue that will make your company, social club or family picnic a day to remember.
To pre-book a picnic area for that special day, contact Perth Zoo on (08)9474 0448 (fees apply). Please note if you wish to reserve a lawn area, all bookings must be made through Perth Zoo in advance.
Services offered:
- Prime picnic area reserved for your group with signage for ease of location.
- Admission tickets can be pre-printed for your group for ease of entry on the day.
- Docents (Zoo Guides) are available to take members of your group on a walking tour of a section of the Zoo (fees apply).
- Mustard Catering can arrange pre-ordered ice-creams, drinks and catering for your picnic group.
- Carousel tickets can be purchased on the day from the Carousel operator or vouchers can be sent to your group and invoiced after the picnic. The cost is $4.00 per child per ride.
Ticket Details and Zoo Admission Prices
Perth Zoo can issue admission tickets prior to the picnic. The tickets will be printed with your company or social group name and the date of the function. Groups will then only be charged for the number of tickets that are utilised.

Group discounts are available for over 30 people. Please enquire when booking. Cash payments can also be made for Zoo entry by individuals on the day. Enquiries on the day to Cashiers on (08) 9474 0343.
Christmas Party Picnics
- Please note: you must inform Perth Zoo at the time of your booking if you are including a Santa at your picnic.
- Why not take advantage of a Santa Escort package? For a cost of $25.00 we can offer present storage on the day of your picnic and then escort your Santa to deliver the presents to your picnic group on one of our Zebra Cars.
- Change room facilities are available for your Santa. Perth Zoo does not provide a Santa – this is the responsibility of the group organising the picnic.

A non-refundable deposit of $195.00 is payable upon booking.

Payment
Payment is required to secure your booking. You will invoiced for any outstanding fees. Cheques should be made payable to Perth Zoo. Please quote the invoice number on the reverse side of the cheque.
Things you need to know
Areas
Groups should plan to be early to reserve an area — remember weekends in December are very popular for Christmas parties. Groups may put up a sign for ease of location, but no advertising of products please.
Barbeques
Free electric barbeque facilities are available on the Main Picnic Lawn and the Walkabout Lawn.
Catering
Mustard Catering handle all on-site catering (including pre-ordered ice creams and drinks) at Perth Zoo. Please contact the Functions Co-ordinator at Mustard Catering on (08) 9367 6331 for assistance. Please note Perth Zoo and Mustard Catering do not have the facilities to store birthday cakes.
Please do not engage outside caterers.
Entertainment
Amplified sound or music is not allowed in the Zoo without prior permission.
Games
We request that the following items are not brought into the Zoo for animal and visitor safety : balls, balloons, ropes, whistles, skateboards, rollerblades, frisbees, bikes and tricycles, scooters.

Keeper talks and animal feed times are listed for your convenience on the Zoo map.
Lockers
We have self-service lockers available for hire, located next to ‘Scene Too Believe’ photographic studio (just inside the Zoo’s entrance). Small lockers cost $1.00 per use and the large lockers cost $2.00 per use. Please read terms of use and instructions before securing the locker.
Rubbish
Please ensure the beauty of the Zoo grounds is preserved by leaving your area clean.
Smoking
Perth Zoo is a NO SMOKING Zoo. Smokers are asked to refrain from smoking whilst in the Zoo.
Strollers and kids’ wagons
Strollers and towable wagons are available for hire from the Cashiers at the Zoo entrance at a cost of $12.00 per day. A driver’s licence or credit card must be presented for security purposes. Alternatively, a $50.00 returnable deposit may be left.
Parking
Ticket parking is availble in the carpark on the corner of Labouchere and Richardson Roads, and the carparks on Labouchere Road and Mill Point Road for Zoo visitors. Disability parking is available at the small Zoo car park adjacent to the Zoo entry on Labouchere Road and in the Windsor Park car park on Labouchere Road. Both are just a short, flat distance from the Zoo’s entry. Free street parking is available a few blocks from the Zoo.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available from the Entrance Cashiers at no charge. Some form of identification is required to be presented for security purposes, as well as a $10 returnable deposit. Bookings are essential. Please call (08) 9474 0343 to reserve a wheelchair.
Vehicles
For safety reasons, vehicles are not allowed in the Zoo. Goods can be unloaded in the bus bay outside the main entrance and carried in.
