BUSH PARTY
(Years Kindergarten to 2)
After hearing an original story, children explore the Australian Bushwalk wearing colourful native animal costumes. Groups report back on the special features and habitats of these unique animals. *Modified if weather is inclement.
SAVE A TREE FOR ME!
(Years 1 to 3)
Students participate in a role-play using puppets and costumes to explore the basic needs of our native species and threats to their survival.
GOING… GOING… GONE?
(Years 4 to 7)
The south-west of Australia is a biodiversity hotspot. Find out about key threatening processes in this region and how to create fauna friendly habitats for local wildlife.
SOS (SAVE OUR SPECIES)
(Years 8 to 10)
What can you do to help? Students explore the threatening processes that can bring a species to the brink of extinction. They also consider local and global conservation actions.
CAPTIVATING CONSERVATION
(Years 11 to 12)
The south-west of Australia is a biodiversity hotspot and human activity has put increasing pressure on species in the region. This session examines the work of Perth Zoo’s Native Species Breeding Program and introduces students to some of the hands-on science and decision-making processes that underpin conservation efforts.
