One of the outcomes of an Indonesian Gibbon Conservation Workshop held in Java in 2008 was to provide some assistance to Indonesian Zoos in regards to husbandry and species management.
The husbandry manual used as a guide for most western zoos has been modified to suit both Indonesian zoos as well as rehabilitation centers. This manual has also been translated into Bahasa in order to make the document more user friendly for Indonesian institutions.
The husbandry manual provides detailed information on housing and social requirements as well as veterinary issues associated with this species.
