We endeavour to provide a variety of fantastic animal encounters where relevant to specific education experiences. To ensure that we provide the best possible care for our education animals we have policies in place that can effect encounter opportunities. For example:
- Our animals alternate between rest days and handling days.
- Reptile sloughing – snakes and lizards can not be handled where they are shedding their skin (scales).
- Snake feeding – snakes cannot be handled for two days after feeding.
If your students do have an animal encounter, please ensure they wash their hands with soap and water.
