How to apply

Recruitment to vacancies is an on-going exercise. Each vacancy will have a job description with selection criteria identified.

Ideally applicants will be studying or have studied in a relevant area; have some practical exposure already; will demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and a good 'value fit' with the values held by Perth Zoo.

However, at the end of the day we will recruit for attitude and train for technical competence.

Applications for any position must be accompanied by an application form. You may also care to download the general Instructions to Applicants to complete the most competitive application possible.

Applications should be marked Private & Confidential and posted or hand-delivered to:

Human Resource Services
Perth Zoo
20 Labouchere Road
South Perth

or

PO Box 489
South Perth
WA 6951

phone (08) 9474 0338
fax (08) 9367 3921
email: human.resources@perthzoo.wa.gov.au

Should you be the successful applicant you will need to provide:

  • A current police clearance or a clearance for working with children (from the Department of Community Development) as deemed appropriate;
  • Original copies of any qualifications;
  • A copy of your original visa to work in Australia if you are not a permanent resident; and
  • Undertake a pre-employment medical to determine a base line of your health status.

Advising Applicants

All applicants are advised of the result of their application in writing. At this time you will be given the opportunity to seek feedback regarding your application. This may be helpful in assisting you in future job applications.

Should you be of the opinion that any of the standards relating to the recruitment, selection and appointment process have been breached in any way, you will be encouraged to discuss any concerns with the contact person. Where applicable, you will also be advised of the procedures should you wish to lodge a formal application for a review of the process.

For more information about these standards please visit www.opssc.wa.gov.au/hrm/standards/rsa.htm.
