Heritage Trail

Come on a journey back in time to discover some of Perth Zoo's historic sites.

This heritage trail takes you to sites of historic or social significance to the Zoo with some buildings still standing from the Zoo's opening in 1898.

Sites include:

  • the old bear caves
  • kite cage
  • hay shed
  • bird feed shed
  • the carousel
  • pump house
  • train station and
  • mineral baths.

Two sites – the Scout Hall and Gate to Zoo residence – cannot be seen from inside the Zoo but can be seen through the fence opposite Windsor Park and along Mill Point Road respectively.

Download the pdf version (628k) of the heritage trail or pick up a free copy from the Information Centre next time you visit Perth Zoo.
