Categories of Threat
The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species provides taxonomic, conservation status and distribution information on taxa that have been globally evaluated using the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.
Biodiversity
Biodioversity Hotspots are found in 34 locations across the globe. These areas have the widest variety of plants and animals but are also under the most threat.
Projects in the Wild
Perth Zoo is committed to making a clear contribution to conservation. The Zoo contributes to conservation through reintroduction programs and provides support to conservation organisations.
Research

Native Species Breeding Program
Perth Zoo's Native Species Breeding Program (NSBP) is the central focus for many of the captive breeding and research projects concerned with the conservation of Western Australian fauna.
Australasian Species Management Program
Through a large network of voluntary position holders working in member zoos, the ASMP provides coordinated management and planning recommendations for species residing in ARAZPA's member institutions.
