Reptile-friendly Garden
Native Plants
To make your garden lizard-friendly, grow kangaroo paws and other native plants. These can give lizards shelter and food.
Food
Don't feed reptiles – (long dash) they will choose the food that they like from your garden. You could include a strawberry plant as a special treat for Bobtails.
No poisons!
Don’t use poisons like snail pellets in your garden. Some lizards eat snails and they might get poisoned.
Moving house?
Never take wild reptiles from the bush for your garden. Reptiles will be attracted to your garden and will love to visit.
Shelter
Provide some hollow logs for shelter. Don't take these from the bush because they might be somebody's home!
Hiding with bugs
Spread some leaf litter, branches and bark for lizards and bugs to hide in. Some lizards love to eat bugs!
Lizards rock!
Provide some rocks for lizards to bask on. Lizards need sunlight because they are cold-blooded and need to keep warm.
Thirsty?
Have a place for water for reptiles to have a drink. Don't make it too deep!
Predators
Keep predators away from your reptile garden. This includes your cat or dog!
Wow!
Don’t touch the reptiles in your garden. Sit back, watch and be amazed.
