Walk-In Aviary

Walk-in AviaryThe Walk-in Aviary is located next to Meerkats Cafe on the Main Lawn. It represents a tropical rainforest setting in northern Australia and Papua New Guinea and features birds from this region.

The birds on display are:

  • Blue-winged Kookaburras
  • Channel-billed Cuckoos
  • Eclectus Parrots
  • Emerald Doves
  • Green Pygmy Goose
  • Pheasant Coucals
  • Pied Imperial-Pigeons

Blue-winged Kookaburra  
Blue-winged Kookaburras live in family groups of up to eight individuals consisting of a breeding pair – who mate for life, their current brood of young and their offspring from previous years.

Eclectus Parrot  
Male and female Eclectus Parrots have such different colours that they are often mistaken as two different species.

Green Pygmy Goose  
The Green Pygmy Goose has a unique pattern of black and white lined feathers on most of its body.
